Adjusting the bike of a cyclist from Savoie during a bike fit in Viviers-du-Lac

Bike fit in Savoie, by an osteopath

In Savoie, cols are everywhere but bike fits done by a health professional are rare. My practice is in Viviers-du-Lac, on the shore of Lac du Bourget, ten minutes from Chambéry and five from Aix-les-Bains. Since October 2024 I have been seeing cyclists from all over the department there, from the Maurienne to the Beaufortain, for a bike fit that starts with an osteopathic examination, continues on an indoor trainer with video feedback, and ends with the adjustment of the bike and the cleats.

Riding from Savoie

Savoie is ridden valley by valley. The Maurienne lines up the Galibier, the Croix de Fer, the Glandon and the Montvernier hairpins; the Tarentaise, the Iseran and the Madeleine; the Beaufortain, Roselend and the Saisies. Around Lac du Bourget and in the Combe de Savoie, there is flat and there are cols of an hour, the Revard, the Granier, the Chat. Climbs to 2,000 m require a position that tolerates two hours seated, then long, cold descents that test the neck and the hands.

The Savoie riders I see ride a lot of climbing and rarely come for comfort: it is an established pain, knee, lower back, compressed nerve, or a precise goal, the Marmotte, the Étape du Tour, a triathlon, a season of sportives. Mountain bikers from the Tarentaise and the Maurienne come for XC and enduro. And lately, more and more e-bikes and gravel bikes come through the practice.

From most towns in the department, the practice is less than an hour away, which makes it possible to fit the bike fit in before or after work in Chambéry or Aix, from 8 am to 8 pm, Monday to Saturday. From the Maurienne or the Tarentaise, prefer a mid-morning slot or a Saturday, and test the settings on the lake loop before getting back on the A43. Free parking on site. The adjustments over the following three months are done at the practice, keep that in mind when deciding to come.

Why here

A bike fit that starts with your body

Bike shops in Savoie offer bike fits based on standard measurements and software. At the practice, the bike fit is carried out by an osteopath (D.O.): I first examine your mobility, your asymmetries and your pain, then I set up the bike accordingly. If a stiffness stops you from holding the right position, I treat it during the session.

I do not sell any equipment. My saddle, stem or handlebar recommendations serve your position only.

For cyclists, triathletes and mountain bikers from all over Savoie: the Chambéry area, Aix-les-Bains, the Combe de Savoie, the Tarentaise, the Maurienne, the Beaufortain and the avant-pays

Whether you are preparing the Col de la Madeleine, the Galibier, the Iseran or the Croix de Fer, a well-adapted position makes the difference on long climbs: less low back pain, an aligned knee and power transmitted more efficiently.

« I went to Gaspard for a bike fit and I was not disappointed! Very calm, composed, attentive, takes his time, excellent advice (a saddle model better suited to my body), ultra-professional equipment. Available afterwards by email or message for questions, very responsive. I went back to see him after the changes he had recommended: there is real follow-up. I highly recommend him, with my eyes closed! »

« Great work by Gaspard! A few hundred kilometres after he reviewed my bike setup and gave me advice on pedalling properly, no more knee or back pain. The way to go if you want to ride for hours without trouble. »

« I went to see Gaspard because I had been suffering from pain in my right knee for over 2 years, especially on the bike. After one osteopathy session and a bike fit, the pain has completely gone. Impressive result, the pleasure of riding back in a single session. Very professional and effective work. I highly recommend him! »

FAQ

Bike fit in Savoie: your questions

Where is the practice in the department?

In Viviers-du-Lac, 3C chemin du Nèple, between Aix-les-Bains and Chambéry, exit Viviers-du-Lac on the dual carriageway. Five minutes from Aix, ten from Chambéry, 45 from Albertville, an hour from Moûtiers or Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne on the A43. From the Savoie avant-pays, Yenne or Novalaise, allow 25 minutes via the Chat tunnel or the Col de l’Épine.

I am coming from the Maurienne or the Tarentaise: how should I organise the day?

Take a late-morning slot, allow 1.5 to 2 hours on site, then an hour of cycling on the flat around Lac du Bourget to validate the position before the drive home. You can bring a second bike, set up on the same day for €60 more, or add an osteopathy consultation at €60 if a pain goes beyond the bike.

What hours suit cyclists who work in Chambéry or Aix?

The practice is open Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm. A bike fit at 8 am ends around 10 am, one at 6 pm around 8 pm, so you can come without taking time off. Saturday remains possible for those who come from further away. Online booking, any time.

How much does a bike fit in Savoie cost and for which bikes?

The full bike fit, road, gravel or MTB, costs €250, cleats and adjustments for about three months included. On a time trial bike or with aerobars, €280. The basic bike fit for an e-bike or city bike costs €90, the cleat setup alone €40. Same price for everyone, whichever town you come from.
