Approach

Precise osteopathy that looks for the cause

Osteopathy is a manual therapy that treats functional disorders of the body: muscle and joint pain, loss of mobility, tension, some digestive or sleep problems. I always start with a conversation and a full clinical examination.

Treatment is hands-on and adapted to each person: structural techniques for an athlete, gentle techniques for a pregnant woman or an older person. You leave with practical advice and, if needed, exercises so the pain does not come back.

When a pain needs a doctor, I tell you and refer you: here are the signs I look for at every consultation. Osteopathy does not replace medical care, it complements it.

Case studies

Two consultations, told simply

Situations seen at the practice, told as they happened. Names and details changed to protect anonymity.

Osteopathy · Golfer, 35

A spot between the shoulder blades that cut his breathing short

The situation
Pain between the shoulder blades that started after a golf competition and got worse over a week. He could not take a deep breath without waking a precise spot in his back, and turning over at night bothered him. Heat and a few mobility exercises had helped a little, not enough.
What the examination showed
A clear loss of mobility in the thorax and the neck, in rotation above all. A rib and thoracic restriction typical of a repeated rotation movement, the swing, in a back that had no margin left.
What we did
Gentle techniques and precise manipulations of the thoracic vertebrae, ribs, lumbar spine and neck, to restore movement where it was blocked.
The result
He left the session with his active and passive mobility back, without restriction, and no more pain on breathing in. At the following competitions, no discomfort at all, on the course or off it.

Osteopathy · Active woman, 55

A band of low back pain with electric shocks down the leg

The situation
A band of pain across the low back for three or four days, with electric sensations running down the right leg. Stretching and massage had changed nothing. An active person: Pilates, swimming and running. A few days earlier she had had a severe abdominal episode.
What the examination showed
The shocks down the leg were not true sciatica but a spasm of the piriformis muscle, in the right buttock. And the recent bowel episode had left tension at the back of the abdomen, pulling on the lumbar spine.
What we did
Gentle mobilisation of the pelvis and lumbar spine, muscle work with contract-relax techniques, work on both legs and especially the right buttock, and visceral work to release the attachments of the bowel at the back. Then home exercises, as videos in an app, to make sure they get done, and done well.
The result
By the end of the session, no more radiating pain in the leg and a clearly improved range of motion. The next day she had her full mobility back.

Every case is different: these stories illustrate the approach, they do not promise a result.

★★★★★

« Gaspard is very professional, caring and attentive. At the end of the session you get an app as a bonus to do exercises at home, and for cyclists Gaspard also offers bike fitting. I would not hesitate to see him again if needed. »

Clément C. · Osteopathy · August 2025

« Always excellent! A patient for over 2 years, I have found in Gaspard Blanc the attentiveness and the gentle mobilisation that get the better of my small (and not so small) blockages. You leave with recommended exercises to avoid a relapse, with video demos in an app. Available, punctual. I highly recommend him. »

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about osteopathy

When should I see an osteopath?

For back, neck or joint pain, discomfort after exercise, headaches of cervical origin, functional disorders (digestion, sleep), or as prevention before a sporting event. If in doubt, call me: I will tell you whether osteopathy is appropriate or whether you should see your doctor first.

How much does an osteopathy consultation in Viviers-du-Lac cost?

The consultation costs €60 and lasts about 45 minutes. You receive an invoice for your complementary health insurance (mutuelle), which often reimburses one or more sessions a year.

Do I need a prescription to see an osteopath?

No. Osteopathy is open access. Simply bring any recent imaging results if you have them.

What is musculoskeletal ultrasound used for in osteopathy?

I am trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound and the equipment arrives at the practice in the coming months. It makes it possible to visualise a tendon, a muscle or a joint to refine the osteopathic diagnosis and guide treatment. It does not replace a medical examination: if a lesion warrants it, I refer you to your doctor.

Do you treat children and pregnant women?

Yes. The techniques are adapted to each person: gentle for pregnant women, focused on growth and posture for children and teenagers. I do not treat babies: for an infant, I refer you to a colleague trained in perinatal care.

Are you going to crack my back?

Not necessarily, and never without explaining it first. The crack is not a goal, it is sometimes a sound that comes with a quick technique. For a back that has hurt for a long time, I usually start with slow mobilisations and soft-tissue work. You can decline any technique at any time, I work differently with the same aim.

How do I book an appointment?

Online on Doctolib, 24/7 (the booking page is in French, it takes two minutes), or by phone on 06 13 66 09 55. The practice is open Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm.
