« I went to Gaspard for a bike fit and I was not disappointed! Very calm, composed, attentive, takes his time, excellent advice (a saddle model better suited to my body), ultra-professional equipment. Available afterwards by email or message for questions, very responsive. I went back to see him after the changes he had recommended: there is real follow-up. I highly recommend him, with my eyes closed! »

Triathlon and time trial bike fit
The aerobar position has to reconcile three things that pull in opposite directions: aerodynamics, power and the ability to run afterwards. Many triathletes adopt a “pro” position they cannot hold for more than 20 minutes, or that they pay for in their lower back on the marathon. I am a triathlete and an osteopath: the bike fit looks for the most aero position your body can really hold over the distance.
What the bike fit looks at for triathlon and time trial
- Closed hip angle compatible with your mobility, tested while pedalling at race intensity
- Aerobar height and width, elbow position, forearm angle
- Saddle forward position and choice of a saddle suited to a pelvis tilted forward
- Bike-to-run transition: a position that spares the hamstrings and the lower back
- On a road bike with aerobars: compromise between the two positions
What to bring: your TT bike or your road bike with aerobars, your shoes and cleats, your triathlon kit.
Typical pain
| Area | Common postural cause |
|---|---|
| Lower back | hip angle too closed for your mobility, pelvis in posterior tilt |
| Perineum | road saddle used in a forward-tilted position |
| Neck | head raised too high to see the road, aerobars too low |
| Shoulders | aerobars too narrow or too long |
I treat the pain with osteopathy if needed, then I correct the position so it does not come back. Osteopath for cyclists.
How much it costs

« Great work by Gaspard! A few hundred kilometres after he reviewed my bike setup and gave me advice on pedalling properly, no more knee or back pain. The way to go if you want to ride for hours without trouble. »
« I went to see Gaspard because I had been suffering from pain in my right knee for over 2 years, especially on the bike. After one osteopathy session and a bike fit, the pain has completely gone. Impressive result, the pleasure of riding back in a single session. Very professional and effective work. I highly recommend him! »

Triathlon and time trial bike fit: your questions
Why does the TT bike fit cost more?
It takes longer: the aerobar position has more variables (height, width, length, angle, saddle forward position) and has to be tested at race intensity to check that it can be held.
I am preparing for an Ironman or a half, when should I do the bike fit?
At least 8 weeks before the event, to give you time to adapt to the settings on your long rides and your bike-to-run sessions.
Do you do bike fits for triathlon on a road bike?
Yes. Without aerobars, it is the standard road bike fit at €250. With clip-on aerobars, €280, because both positions have to be set.

Time to book. Athlete or not, I start by understanding where the pain comes from before treating it.
