Bike fit in Annecy, by an osteopath

Annecy has several shops that offer a bike fit; what is harder to find there is a bike fit done by a health professional. From the Annecy area, the practice is forty minutes away on the A41, in Viviers-du-Lac, between Aix-les-Bains and Chambéry. I am an osteopath and bike fitter, I have done more than 350 bike fits since opening in October 2024, and I also consult in English, which matters to some of the cyclists who have settled around Lake Annecy.

Riding from Annecy

The Semnoz from the town centre is about fifteen kilometres of climbing without respite, and the Forclaz via Montmin strings together steep sections on an uneven surface. Cyclists from Annecy therefore spend a lot of time climbing seated for long stretches, then descend on cool, winding roads. By contrast, the lakeside greenway and the plain towards Rumilly are ridden at high cadence on the flat. A badly placed saddle setback goes unnoticed on the flat and shows up from the tenth kilometre of climbing.

What I hear most often from Annecy cyclists: a pain at the front of the knee that comes back every spring on the first cols, hands that go numb on long descents, and among triathletes, a back that cannot hold the aero position over the distance. Some have already had a bike fit in a shop. They come because the adjustment alone was not enough and they want someone to look at their body as well.

Forty minutes on the road justify choosing the slot well. A Saturday morning at 8 or 10 am leaves the afternoon free to test the settings on the flat of the Lac du Bourget loop, right next to the practice. During the week, the 6 pm slots suit those who work between Annecy and Aix. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours on site, free parking at the door, and bring something to change into: the session is done in cycling kit.

Why here

A bike fit that starts with your body

Bike shops in Annecy offer bike fits based on standard measurements and software. At the practice, the bike fit is carried out by an osteopath (D.O.): I first examine your mobility, your asymmetries and your pain, then I set up the bike accordingly. If a stiffness stops you from holding the right position, I treat it during the session.

I do not sell any equipment. My saddle, stem or handlebar recommendations serve your position only.

For cyclists and triathletes from Annecy, Annecy-le-Vieux, Seynod, Sevrier, Faverges and the Aravis

Whether you are preparing the Semnoz, the Col de la Forclaz, the Col de Leschaux or the Lake Annecy loop, a well-adapted position makes the difference on long climbs: less low back pain, an aligned knee and power transmitted more efficiently.

Coming to the practice

From Annecy, the A41 towards Chambéry brings you in forty minutes to the Aix-les-Bains Sud / Viviers-du-Lac exit, and the practice is a few minutes further. Without the motorway, the D1201 via Alby-sur-Chéran, Albens and Grésy-sur-Aix takes fifty minutes to an hour. From Seynod, Rumilly or Faverges, take off or add ten minutes depending on your side of the lake.

« I went to Gaspard for a bike fit and I was not disappointed! Very calm, composed, attentive, takes his time, excellent advice (a saddle model better suited to my body), ultra-professional equipment. Available afterwards by email or message for questions, very responsive. I went back to see him after the changes he had recommended: there is real follow-up. I highly recommend him, with my eyes closed! »

« Great work by Gaspard! A few hundred kilometres after he reviewed my bike setup and gave me advice on pedalling properly, no more knee or back pain. The way to go if you want to ride for hours without trouble. »

« I went to see Gaspard because I had been suffering from pain in my right knee for over 2 years, especially on the bike. After one osteopathy session and a bike fit, the pain has completely gone. Impressive result, the pleasure of riding back in a single session. Very professional and effective work. I highly recommend him! »

FAQ

Bike fit in Annecy: your questions

How long does it take from Annecy and which way?

Forty minutes on the A41 towards Chambéry, exit Aix-les-Bains Sud / Viviers-du-Lac. On the D1201 (Alby-sur-Chéran, Albens), allow fifty minutes to an hour instead. The practice is at 3C chemin du Nèple, free parking on site. You can also come by train to Aix-les-Bains, then ride to the practice along the greenway in about twenty minutes.

Can I combine the trip with a bike ride?

Yes. Lac du Bourget is next to the practice and its loop, flat, is used to validate the new position without the constraint of a gradient. The Mont du Chat and the Revard are right there too, but I advise keeping the cols for a later ride, once the new settings have been absorbed. If something bothers you in the weeks that follow, adjustments are included for about three months.

Which slot should I choose when coming from Annecy?

The practice is open Monday to Saturday, from 8 am to 8 pm. Cyclists from Annecy often choose Saturday morning or a weekday late afternoon, at 6 pm, to avoid rush hour on the A41 around Chambéry. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours on site. Booking is online, any time.

Who comes from the Annecy area?

Road cyclists preparing the Aravis or the Semnoz, triathletes from the lake, mountain bikers and gravel riders from the Bornes plateau, and a share of English-speaking cyclists, whom I see in English. The full bike fit costs €250, €280 on a time trial bike, and a second bike set up on the same day costs €60 more. Osteopathy consultation alone: €60.
