Bike fit in Haute-Savoie, by an osteopath

Viviers-du-Lac is in Savoie, about fifteen kilometres from the Haute-Savoie border: 25 minutes from Rumilly, 40 from Annecy, an hour from the Geneva area. I am an osteopath and bike fitter, and the bike fits I do there start with an examination of your mobility, continue on an indoor trainer with video feedback, and end with the adjustment of the bike and the cleats. I consult in French and in English, which matters to some of the cyclists in the Genevois.

Riding from Haute-Savoie

Haute-Savoie is the Aravis on one side, Colombière, Croix-Fry, Aravis, and the Chablais on the other, Joux Plane, Ramaz, Joux Verte, with gradients often steeper than in the big Savoie cols. Cyclists from the Genevois ride the Salève, short and steep, and the windy plain towards Lake Geneva. Around Annecy, the Semnoz and the Forclaz overlook a flat greenway. This broken terrain, where you are constantly accelerating again, tests the knees more than the lower back.

The Haute-Savoie riders I see come for a pain at the front of the knee on steep cols, for an aero position that does not hold over a triathlon at Lake Annecy, or before a goal such as the Étape du Tour when it passes through the Aravis. Mountain bikers from the Arve valley and the Portes du Soleil come for the handlebar, the cleats and the saddle height on descents. Part of my clientele from the Genevois is English-speaking, I consult in English.

If you come from far away, Thonon, Cluses, Annemasse, group in the same visit the bike fit, a second bike if you have one, or an osteopathy consultation, and keep an hour to ride around Lac du Bourget with the new settings. A mid-morning slot during the week or a Saturday avoids the Annecy and Chambéry traffic jams. From Rumilly or Alby-sur-Chéran, the journey is short enough to come before or after work. Free parking on site.

Why here

A bike fit that starts with your body

Bike shops in Haute-Savoie offer bike fits based on standard measurements and software. At the practice, the bike fit is carried out by an osteopath (D.O.): I first examine your mobility, your asymmetries and your pain, then I set up the bike accordingly. If a stiffness stops you from holding the right position, I treat it during the session.

I do not sell any equipment. My saddle, stem or handlebar recommendations serve your position only.

For cyclists and triathletes from Annecy, Rumilly, Annemasse, Thonon, Cluses, La Roche-sur-Foron and the Arve valley

Whether you are preparing the Col de la Colombière, the Col des Aravis, the Col de Joux Plane or the Semnoz, a well-adapted position makes the difference on long climbs: less low back pain, an aligned knee and power transmitted more efficiently.

« I went to Gaspard for a bike fit and I was not disappointed! Very calm, composed, attentive, takes his time, excellent advice (a saddle model better suited to my body), ultra-professional equipment. Available afterwards by email or message for questions, very responsive. I went back to see him after the changes he had recommended: there is real follow-up. I highly recommend him, with my eyes closed! »

« Great work by Gaspard! A few hundred kilometres after he reviewed my bike setup and gave me advice on pedalling properly, no more knee or back pain. The way to go if you want to ride for hours without trouble. »

« I went to see Gaspard because I had been suffering from pain in my right knee for over 2 years, especially on the bike. After one osteopathy session and a bike fit, the pain has completely gone. Impressive result, the pleasure of riding back in a single session. Very professional and effective work. I highly recommend him! »

FAQ

Bike fit in Haute-Savoie: your questions

Where can I get a bike fit from an osteopath in Haute-Savoie?

The practice is in Viviers-du-Lac, in Savoie, 25 minutes from Rumilly on the D1201 and 40 minutes from Annecy on the A41, exit Aix-les-Bains Sud / Viviers-du-Lac. From Annemasse, Thonon or Cluses, 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes on the A410 and the A41. A dedicated page details the route from Annecy. Free parking, 3C chemin du Nèple.

Can I combine the bike fit with a ride or a consultation?

Yes. The flat Lac du Bourget loop starts near the practice and lets you validate the position before the drive home. If a pain goes beyond the bike, an osteopathy consultation at €60 can be placed on the same day; let me know when booking. Adjustments are included for about three months, by text or phone to set up an appointment.

Which slot should I choose from the Chablais, the Arve valley or the Genevois?

Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm. At more than an hour away, I advise Saturday morning or a 10 am slot during the week, to avoid the traffic jams on the Annecy bypass and in Chambéry. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours on site, in cycling kit, with shoes and cleats.

Who comes from Haute-Savoie for a bike fit?

Road cyclists from the Aravis and the Chablais, triathletes from Lake Annecy for the bike fit on a time trial bike at €280, mountain bikers from the Arve and the Portes du Soleil, and English-speaking cyclists from the Genevois. The full bike fit costs €250, cleats included; the basic bike fit on an e-bike or city bike, €90; the cleat setup alone, €40.
